New New Lore(WIP Title)

Post by Proxzki on Mon Dec 05, 2011 9:26 pm

So, start off with the basis. About....say 4500 years in the future? Maybe 10000? However long it'd take for the former mains to die from boredom. In their absence, real evils have developed and vie for control of the planet.

Remade Areas

Frostvale
Renamed Frost Spire, it lives up to its name, ominously towering the landscape with sharp ridges lining its sides. Not many can recall what became of Frostvale, but those that do speak of a horrific elemental of titanic proportions ripping through the town and reducing it to mounds of debris. Some say the spire is the remains of the terror, having exhausted its lifespan. Others say it is the beast itself. Despite these stories, most people that visit return home fine.

Battleon
One of the most populated cities on the continent and is the center to most political and militaristic decisions. Embassies from every major city and a few towns represent citizens near and far from the bustling metropolis(relatively speaking). Memorials to heroes and gods alike dot the many intersections in the city. Battleon is also home to the Council, an attempt at a centralized government to create order in an otherwise chaotic region of the world. The main police force they use are of course the Guardians, all of whom are long time veterans of past conflicts. Most of these fine soldiers have achieved 'hero' status which requires a demonstration of immense selflessness and courage.

Darkovia
People never understood why the foreboding lands were so horrible and gloomy and have always taken this fact for granted and would not change. Well it did. For whatever reason the eternal night surrounding the area has grown considerably, covering just a little less than a quarter of the continent. This drastic change has caused a spread of vampirism, lycanthropy and the lesser-known mixture of the two. The Darkness continues to creep across the sky slowly, and the feral domain has piqued the interest of those who would wish to manipulate the Darkness for their own gains.

Lolosia
Another center of commerce for the continent, Lolosia has resisted all forms of political influence for centuries. With the military giving up on integrating the infamous city, all the pirates have had to worry about are those damned ninjas. Predictably, it has grown in size and it is now bleeding over into the territory of the [ninja] monastary of Charas*, creating a lot of conflict in the seaside town.

*Inclusive of other practitioners of the martial arts, but part of it is exclusive to favor ninjas.

Oh, and my main characters will be:

Ni, a young female human born to a male miner and his wife who works around the house and does light gardening for vegetables and fruit.

Maq, a skilled assassin who is famous around Battleon and Granemor, frequenting the latter's inn for jobs.

So as to not have one big messy post, I'll intro you guys to a couple new areas.

The Dream Coil*
Calling it a strange anomaly is an understatement. It is revered as the link between the Ethereal and the Material realms. Its appearance is that of a spiral dirt trail with no sort of visible support. At the beginning of a year it glows violet, the source being from the central core of the cone-structure of the coil. Based on years of study, mages speculate its prime function has something to do with transmutation.

*Also a gathering site for the New Years celebrations. As the core dims, the New Year is considered to begin.

Charas
Often referred to the one temple just N/NW of Lolosia. To those who train in Charas, it is the network of temples/monastaries throughout Lore, each near a well-populated city. Their locations are on purpose, as those whose professions involve assassination must practice what they have learned. The large stone doors to the Charas temples are always sealed, and the only way to enter is by possessing the ability necessary to get over the towering walls. Inside each Charas is about the size of the average town. Normally training is relatively informal, but there are always exceptions.
