Yeah. Like the Nobunaga clan, Nobunaga and his wife both had firearms that were more flintlock in design, but never actually gave off and smoke and never seemed to take forever and a half to reload. they just fired them wildly at will.

Skyrim has a lot of steampunk stuff too, but it's just easily explained by the dwarves being really good with metallurgy and technology. Even in the chronicles of Loth, the dwarves are really tech-savvy, wielding explosives and firearms.

well the Dwemer in Elder Scrolls weren't technically dwarves, they were classified as "elves from the deep", experts in craftsmanship, mining, and ofc magic, which they used in tandem with steam technology

But I suppose if we were to have lizard people, instead of making them sci-fi like the drakels, we could make them like everyone else, they'd just be exceptional with their weaponcrafts and shit like that, unless you want the dwarves to have that schtick.

well I suppose it would be hard to craft things with claws and shit. I suppose their weapons would just be rudimentary iron weapons, and they can also use their claws and fangs in battle

Leaving this here since it will be lost eventually since it was posted in chatbox:

Zera's gonna have a blue theme so that Raiya being his twin sister will make sense. Will post appearance in my character thread later for reference.

Zera will have no outstanding abilities other than a large capacity for being sadistic and brutal in how he kills his enemies.

He'll also be extremely arrogant and unless he's fighting massive monsters, he will always open up battles with throwing knives and escalate his battle technique as the battle continues on, until he finally resorts to close combat wielding a saber in one hand and a knife in the other.

Equipment Overview:

Saber or Rapier, depends on how he feels that day.
Throwing Knives(also used in melee)

Razor-Thread Knives enchanted with lightning/fire magic with the ability to detonate. Knives at the end must be manually replaced.

He won't really use armor, as he's more accustomed to being at range with his combat style. What he lacks in defensive gear he makes up for in dexterity/agility.

Raiya will be her normal self, lightning-based spell caster, same appearance as usual.

I might make it so Zera has to be antagonized before he starts going all berserk on people. Don't want him to be slaughtering whole towns for funsies.

End-Of-Story-Plot (which will catalyze a Reboot sequel)

After visitng an unnamed region and the North and possibly coming back to Elro or something, the Lazuli will launch their assault on....probably Elro. They won't be able to use all of their military force on Elro though, due to Northerners attacking the capital. Also, undead will be part of the Lazuli ranks in this war.

The Northerners will eventually be pushed back into their territory after doing catastrophic damage. Elro will push the army that is attacking them back to the Whirling Tundra that surrounds the Lazuli region.

Raiya will decide to enter with Zera to fight stragglers lurking in the tundra, as well as the Grand Magus, who upon hearing about Zera re-entering Lazuli territory, will want to execute them himself, as he originally wanted him dead for his crimes prior to the story anyway.

Before the twins leave the group, Raiya will admit to them they'll probably die, but that she and her brother will at least be able to kill the remnants of the invasion forces. She tells Mellow that if she's victorious, she will definitely come back for him, and asks him to wait on the more generous end of 5-10 years. To help him wait, she leaves him her EXTREMELY HEAVY book of information about the world she and her brother have explored, and kisses Mellow one last time.

Then she and Zera will enter and engage in the climactic battle. After a time skip of probably about 5 years, Raiya will have made a clone, investing 75% of her full power to do so, so that the clone runs the Lazuli region while she leaves with Zera(who is now an assassin badass and leader of the Seraphic Guard) to look for their former comrades.

Eventually they meet everyone else, and Raiya fulfills her sappy love story with Mellow. Probably have sex. Hell, might be the FIRST SEX SCENE IN THE STORY! XD That'd be pretty funny. Zera brags about how badass he is to everyone and stuff, proud of what he's become over the last 5 years.

From there....idk. We can figure something out by then, hopefully. In other news, looks like Raiya's breasts got bigger.

Seems Sarge wants Jenghas to become King of Northend by the end of a quest that more or less comes before the War.

I'm guessing Fierce would more than likely go back to her estate after it's all done and the sequel starts.

Re: Lore reboot ideas

Post by Proxzki on Thu Nov 15, 2012 11:25 am

After we find the dragon and kill it, the party will decide to head up to Northend, though due to how the Northern area is connected to Elro, the most practical way of travel will be through the Desert/Highland area which still needs to be named. In the Desert portion, there'll be an orcish invasion coming from the highlands. After fighting it back, we'll uncover that the Orcs were only invading human territory because an Undead legion was bearing down on the Orcish homeland. So then we kill all of the undead and move up to Northend.

At this point we go on a quest where Raiya fights Zera, allowing her to realize her actual level of power which she has underplayed for most of the story, and everyone else fights a Warlock who was controlling the High King. After some character development(drinking contest between Jenghas and Zera) there we head back down to Elridge to see how everyone's doing, before news of war breaks out. Lazuli make their first "real" appearance in Elro an act of war and we proceed to beat them back.

The rest is detailed on the last post of the previous page.

Re: Lore reboot ideas

I'd like to pitch an idea that would explain why Zera can manipulate real lightning, but not magical lightning, as I suspect that doesn't make sense to some people.

Here are some of the explanations I theorized:

Most Cliche', but maybe makes the most sense: Zera inherit a very rare trait in Lazuli that allows him to manipulate one naturally-occurring element, but not being able to use magic. As a trade-off, when he manipulates the element, it is as potent as if a master-arcanist was manipulating an equivalent spell.

Idea I favor Most, a creative twist on a less-common cliche': Zera in the past had had an encounter with a Storm/Lightning Revenant at a very young age during a storm, of course. The reason Zera would be out there in the middle of a storm is just due to him liking storms, and his apparent wanderlust, which is exhibited in his updated background story. Anyway, the Lightning Revenant decides to possess Zera. It can be argued that this would be the point where his aforementioned shyness(mentioned when Raiya was talking to Mellow in the bath with the group present) turned into an abrasive personality with latent (bloodthirsty) sadism.

If we use this explanation, it would facilitate a plot twist where everyone finds out that many of Zera's anti-social/mean tendencies have been the result of his possession(which will be revealed by the Revenant during the fight against Raiya), and that Zera knows this, and has been drowning the Revenant's power over him with a sea of alcohol. After the 5-year skip Zera will have control over himself and be able to use a weaker form of the Revenant's power to amplify his strength in battle. As always though, Zera will receive the Revenant's full strength during a storm, but after the skip he will be able to control it.
