Spirata

Post by Zephyr on Tue Oct 07, 2014 2:49 pm

Spirata is a wondrous world pushing the limits of creativity and imagination, an eclectic mix of sci-fi and fantasy elements. The world is flat, and spread out in a gigantic plane in large continents, at least fifteen times the size of Earth's area. Along with these lands are large oceanic continents, bordering most of the landmasses. In between those, however, are the arcdrifts, an abyssal mass of electric stormclouds.

The wildlife consists of all animals from our world, along with various mythological creatures; anything you can imagine! Dragons exist in this world as ancient, godlike spirits that guide various religions/philosophies. These religions form the governments of many civilizations, but are peaceful, democratic, and coexist fine with secular or autonomous civilizations.

Recent advances in investigating and understanding magic in this world have led scholars to theorize that it originates from the arcdrifts, but any attempts to experiment up-close have been met with catastrophic failure, as they are extremely dangerous, as falling in is certain doom. Nobody who has entered the arcdrifts have ever returned. But magic emanates from the arcdrifts, and fills the world as a safe, but powerful invisible field.

There are two sentient mortal races that dwell in the cities in Spirata, the Faeries and the Humans. Faeries are a bit smaller, more slender and less physically strong than the humans, but are receptive to the magic field and can use it to their will. The human are strong and industrious, and have created technology that allows use of magic, however limited, and also creating large-scale infrastructure powered by magic, such as electric airships, lasers, telecommunication, and even automobiles. Such luxuries are usually only found in the colossal walled cities of Spirata, as the wilds are dense and teeming with dangerous wildlife, although scenic and picturesque.

the human and faerie cultures are very similar due to them being integrated so much. Their architecture style is an interesting mix of greco-roman and art deco, while their wardrobe style mirrors a mix of roman and renaissance(excluding the hoop skirts, of course.) They're seen as very prominent and clean, with their cities being mostly white(marble, granite, quartz, etc.) with lots of foliage and gardens around, and ivy covering some buildings. They claim to be very close to nature in that regard, while hypocritically using their magical technology in their massive walled cities. The religion, as you know, is built around the Spirit Dragons, who are famed to have created their sentient races, humans and faeries. They ask of nothing in terms of sacrifice or tithes but their subjects' humble obedience. There are a class of high-tier itinerant religious scholars who travel around the world to each of the spiritual cities to gather info on culture, goings-on and such, to better evolve the faith. These are called "archons".

characters go here. Remember, only give us the name and physical appearance. Keep the personality/background and all that shizwas for yourself until it's revealed in the story.

name: Ryo (pronounced Raiyo)
appearance: medium-length wavy brown hair, fair skin. Wears the armor as seen on the left, but no helmet. http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130727171732/monsterhunter/images/f/f0/200px-NavalDeus-Gunner.png Sorry for the small image, it's all I could find. He wields a sword and shield, http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140309025540/monsterhunter/images/0/01/MH3U-Sword_and_Shield_Render_052.png Which can be charged with magic to increase its damage. Can only use a few charges a day as a limitation. As for utilitarian equipment, as a traveler, he carries a knapsack on his back with basic survival essentials. Knife, flint rocks, tinder, bedroll, canvas, whetstones, and rations.

Race: Sabermen. The fusion of human with saber-tooth beasts. They are excellent hunters and trackers. But they tend to avoid humans and fairies given that many use them as tracking animals despite the fact they can speak common like most races, They live in colonies in dense jungles and have of many years.

name: Rishal
race: snakeling. (A race of wilderness-dwelling, form-changing tribesmen and tribeswomen that can change their forms into giant snakes. Their human forms also have sharp claws, venomous fangs, thin, forked tongues, and snake eyes. They also have a decent grasp on magic.)

Race: Felynari

The Felynari are a race native to Spirata's sky islands. They are solitary creatures, often preferring to stay away from contact with other races and are mostly hunter-gatherers by nature. They are capable of speaking in multiple languages fluently, but only their tribe chiefs demonstrate this ability willfully a they are the leaders and such.

They're my character's race by the way.
